Why don't you go and visit, during their business hours (should be listed in the website)? They'll give you a tour and you can even ask to try one or two days.
Mine, in Hki, has sauna.
And yes it is cheap, 30 eur/kk, half of that if you use sports vouchers. Those are not the reasons I go there though, the most important factor is location.

This should be up your alley https://www.facebook.com/FIT1.Fitnessclub/?fref=ts
Offer ends tomorrow.
Other affordable gyms, in Helsinki, the public ones, though they may be too crowded.
And if you start following a few gyms in FB, you'll soon get ads and promotions on your feed.

For students, Unisport is the cheapest.

However, I must mention that if you are a foreigner (Arab looking or South Asian looking) and visit the GYM alone, you will most probably get a lot of uncomfortable stares. I have been getting many uncomfortable stares when I visit the Unisport at the School of Business (Töölö). I have been even asked several times that " how long will you use the equipment" though I just used for 2-3 minutes and they saw it or "can I use it in between" though in both cases some equipment are available. I have even seen that a girl was asking a South Asian looking guy whether she can use the equipment in between though he just started to use the equipment for only 2-3 minutes and she was arguing about it when the guy told her to wait till he is finished.
Did anyone experience such things recently?

That's gym behaviour generally in many places.mois_2012 wrote:For students, Unisport is the cheapest.

Give them an idea how long you'll be - 5 minutes, 10 minutes etc. Lets people know you'll only be a few minutes and that you're not hogging a machine/location for half an hour. Which you shouldn't of course.
Don't make things about race when it has NOTHING to do with it. Be polite, answer the question nicely and get on with your training. As for the staring, it's rude, but also not about race. Finns stare like that, they're weird that way in some places and yes, the gym is one of them. I write that as a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. People are jerks.
Re: Gyms in Helsinki/Vantaa/Espoo
I go there regularly, the place is tidy and quite spacious. To my non-gym-expert eye at least, there's a lot of equipment (weights, both plate-loaded and selectorized machines) and everything seems pretty new.roger_roger wrote:Easy fit Tapiola http://www.easyfit.fi/espoo-tapiola/ looks like good option as it is cheap too and looks like it has sauna too.
Anyone been here?
IIRC men have a normal sauna while women have an IR sauna.
Re: Gyms in Helsinki/Vantaa/Espoo
I haven't been at EasyFit Tapiola, but I go regularly to their gym in the center of Helsinki. I think you get a lot of value for your money at their gyms and the equipment is in good condition and clean.roger_roger wrote:Easy fit Tapiola http://www.easyfit.fi/espoo-tapiola/ looks like good option as it is cheap too and looks like it has sauna too.

You can go there to test the gym out for free before committing to anything.
