2-Stroke Engine Ban?

Post by BigStack » Thu Oct 27, 2016 9:43 pm

Hi,

I am in the process of attempting to register a vehicle with a 2-stroke engine in Finland. The vehicle was manufactured around 2010 in EU and has an 'EC Certificate of Conformity'. However, it has never been registered in any EU state.

I have been informed that this may be difficult to register in Finland due to a 2-stroke engine ban but I cannot find any information to support this? Similar brand new vehicles of this type (with 2-stroke engines) are still selling in Holland - don't all EU countries have to follow the same trade related regulations what with the single-market and all that?

Good points well made! :D

I actually meant 2 stroke engines over 50cc as anything under is exempt. Therefore, the Mopo car drivers are fine!

Afaik there is no ban, but they have to meet the emission criteria...

I think it greatly depends on the machine, I mean they sell here still 2 stroke light motorbikes (like aprillia rs 125), most light motor sledges are 2 stroke.

But about your machine, I thought they did not make trabant anymore? Image

That was probably a 2T engine with software that made you believe it was a 4T then. Image

Just like the 'Black Smoke' Buses and Trucks - and most of the Estonian cars!
