Informing employer about invesment

At the moment I'm employed and planning to invest some money in one of my friend's business. I will own about 25% of share. However, I won't be involved in running the business in any official capacity. Do I have to inform my employer about that ? Thanks.

Nope.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.
