Service recommendation for kitchen renovation

Hi,

We are planning to renovate our kitchen (II-shape, about 4m each side) but have no idea which service is good in Helsinki/Espoo area. We would like to have our old kitchen demolished, the new one installed, and a wooden wall in one side of the kitchen torn down so that we will have an open space between our kitchen and living room.

Do you have any service recommendation for this kind of work? It would be great if you also have some cost estimations for it.

You need to do some groundwork: visit showrooms, talk to people and negotiate hard.

Price depends on quality - there are huge variations - and on the amount of labour involved, especially plumbing, and on how many new appliances you need. A ballpark figure would be 3-4K€ per sq. metre. But honestly, it could be less (Ikea + independent installation) or much much more.

We went with Puustelli over 10 years ago and the quality of the kitchen was really good and the cupboards are still in great shape. BUT, the installation was a total nightmare and the project manager was unfit for purpose. It was supposed to take two weeks and it went on for months. We asked them to do the whole job: plumbing, ventilation, tiling, decorating. The only thing they made a good job of was the installation of the cabinets. The rest was awful.

But things have changed, there is more competition out there now and customers are more demanding. So I assume standards have risen.

Whoever you go with, keep a log book and write down everything they do on a daily basis.

House or apartment? With apartment you'll need to inform the manager and they might hire someone to oversee the renovation.
