buying apartment

Post by sunnyshiny » Sat Mar 10, 2018 11:10 am

Hello
we are planning to buy an apartment in Helsinki, and we saw a vintage apartment (1920) which we liked but the price is almost like buying a brand new apartment (around 2010 and beyond).
-We would like to know if it is worth buying old vintage apartments?
-what are the general people view about the vintage apartments?
- is it easy to sell it in the future?
Thanks a million

High price is a signal that there's plenty of demand.

Money-wise, you have to consider the location, the condition, the housing company (fees, assets, upcoming renovations), the price and view those against other offerings. Some older buildings may have requirements regarding keeping it in original-like state, limiting the changes that can be made. Ultimately it's only you who can decide whether it's worth it or not.

I was primarily thinking of closed deals. There's plenty of information about that available.

I bought recently of 2010 built house, Old house price depends on its schedule and done maintenance work. Its good to buy vintage house if its located in high demand area. otherwise the price can go down.

Check practical situations too. I my office is in an Alvar Aalto building. It is not allowed to even hang something on the walls without permission from whatever department that takes care of protected buildings. (What I am told. I didn't rent or buy the office so no idea about details)
