Hi,
I need advise on sauna with co-workers including female co-workers too. What is correct costume; Is it swimwear like this:

Or swim shorts like

Please advise which one can go. Even, list is too big, if you can advise any specific.
Kiitos!

The correct way is to go naked, obviously. Being a work place outing, most likely women and men will go to sauna separately. Otherwise, there's no real etiquette beyond what's practical, you can wear a towel around your hips or swimwear, regardless of type (check the material though, so it's not super-sensitive to heat), no-one accustomed to going to a Finnish sauna will really care. Makes more sense to buy something you have use for otherwise as well. If in a commercial sauna and using a pool, they may have their own requirements/restrictions, e.g. swimming shorts not allowed in a pool.

Pool with chlorinated water and sauna don't mix well. Or rather the chlorine mixes exceptionally well with air in the heat and that isn't healthy. So rinse well if you are going to keep your swimming gear on when going from pool to sauna.FinnGuyHelsinki wrote: ↑Fri May 11, 2018 8:11 amand using a pool, they may have their own requirements/restrictions, e.g. swimming shorts not allowed in a pool.

Wrong information. Chlorine is not used in Finnish swimming pools. The recirculated water is disinfected by high-intensity UV lamps. The result: odorless fresh air around the pools. Try the Itis swimming pool in Eastern-Helsinki, for instance.

WTF? Since when? Allasvesiasetus 3 § 2. momentti: "Allasveden mikrobiologinen laatu tulee turvata ensisijaisesti veden klooridesinfioinnilla." Valvira has also has a guide from last year that has chlorine as main disinfectant and uv or ozone to boost the effect. According to www.ukty.fi there are (by eyeballing) more swimming pools that don't have UV capabilities than pools that have it. According to hel.fi most of the deviations in the quality of pool water were... deviations in chlorine content and cloudiness. Btw according to ukty.fi Itis doesn't have UV disinfection, they even mention in their own pages that they use ozone purification.
