Shoplifting Fine

Post by ankurpandey » Wed May 23, 2018 3:31 pm

One of my friend is in problem, 1 week back he shoplifted one shirt from Stockmann Finland and get caught and immediately guards came and they took him in to some room where he was kept for some time, collected information ( tone lady wrote some complaint letter which was given to police) then cops were called. The cops took her to the station, kept him there for 2 hours and after investigating that if there was any previous criminal record or not. It was my friend's first mistake there was no previous record for such thing . Police gave him one kind of printed paper in which it was written he has to pay fine for 350 euros then he is free to leave.

350 euro Fine is too much . now he got 1 month time to pay this. but we have several questions :

1. I want to ask if he fails to pay fine at given time then what will happen.?
2. He is Indian and after 3 days , he will be going back to India. So, it is necessary to pay fine from India because he is going to his home country now.
3. Will it impact on future VISA applications for other countries ? Note: This is the only case he indulge with.

If anyone knows then please help. It will be really helpful.
Thank you in advance.

Afaik Russians are really diligent paying their fines as they won't get new visa if there are unpaid fines. And as there are no visas to Finland, they are all to whole Schengen area, then surely that fine will affect applications for whole Schengen area.

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

If the fine was not hurting, it would be worth taking the risk.
If you can't pay the fine, don't do the crime.

Police may have entered a record of the fine to the visa registry on his details, he may get questions when exiting the Schengen and if he does not pay the fine will most probably don't get other Schengen visa for some time.
