Also there is an exam/test..
Hotel/kitchen/retaurant workers are obliged to take/pass it.
The employer usualy pays and arrange it...but...
1:not easy...some of the food handling/storage questions require some sort of course/knowledge.
2: It is TBMK ..not in English

These people might be able to advise you..

Looking at your previous posts you are a student..Why do you think you need a hygieniapassi...?

Testi on mahdollista suorittaa myös englanniksi ...mean it is possible to carry out the test in English...But first you need to know all about Food Hygiene.....where are you going to learn that?

well, the school i attend is not as good as i thougt ( it's Maahanmuuttajien ammatilliseen peruskoulutukseen valmistava koulutus), i feel like really waisting the time there, so i think to quit it. the school is at HESOTE and we were asked, if we would like to take a test to get a hygieniapassi, of course we do, since it will be without a charge etc., my finnish is quite ok, so i was thinking of apply for some jobs as ravintola-apulainen vai kahvila-apulainen etc, but they all ask for this hygieniapassi. so i just wanted to know, if i don't get it at school now, where can i get and in english would be better since my knowlegde of this specific finnish words is limited.

Well you are in the school to be able to get into school, so they're just teaching things "everybody knows" in Finland.
Cheers, Hank W.

Quiting school if that was the reason given to "reside in Finland" might cause you a problem...but that is another topic...

IMO...
Your Finnish is not going to be good enough to take the test in Finnish..the subject has a whole new bucket full of specialised terms...

I did a check with my Wife who works in an hotel...most big hotels..eg. Sokos/Scandic have their own trainers, and they arrange the test.
But she said a friend who works in a restaurant got her passi via Adulta IDA.

But...she doubt they do it in English..as it is out in the forest somewhere...
Jävenpää...diretion...

well, for example we have ATK, so we are told how to find different info on the net.

then we have Ospikelu Suomessa- so there teacher tells us how to make ur studies the best, for example- we had write down what is hyvä ryhmä in our opinions etc

then we have työelämä, so there we are told about-eduskunta, demokratia etc.....

the school is not challenging at all for me, and yes, i already know all the things, they teach there( except finnish) , at the beginning they said it will be a lot of homeworks etc, there r no homeworks almost, days r short etc, i mean i go there, but do not get any further, except finnish again.

Hi VV

concerning where you can take the hygieniaosaaminen-test, I found this link after briefly checking the net:

http://www.foodcentre.helsinki.fi/hygtesti.htm (it's in Helsinki)

I also took the test in English (though in Turku) and it's quite easy and there's some study material available in English:

1) SEFO-konsultointi. Basic Facts of Food Hygiene 2003. Toinen linja 13, 00530 Helsinki. p. 09- 7260 270.

- this brochure is especially useful, as it's published by the Finnish food authorities, and you can order it from this site:

http://www.kolumbus.fi/sefo-konsultoint ... aalit.html

2) Sprenger Richard A. The Food Hygiene Handbook. Highfield Publications15th Edition 2002

I'd also recommend you to have a look at the sample questions which you find on this site (they're in the right hand side frame)
http://www.evira.fi/portal/fi/elintarvi ... amistesti/

I don't know if they offer also a "training" at that training centre for which I gave you the link, or wherever you'll take the test in the end - in any case I think it's no real use to do that training if you've studied the material mentioned above, at least reading the brochures sufficed for me to pass the exam.

Good luck!
