Re: JOB: Specialist, Employee Communications, NOKIA
Odd... I guess I've become so cynical that I read this through (yes, even in this particular bit of the forum) idly thinking I was being led down some carefully-crafted joke or canard - "employee communications" being an area in which Nokia has recently not exactly covered itself in glory, at least with our Saxon friends. I was slightly disappointed not to find a suitable punchline to cause me a flicker of late-night amusement.
It seems to be... a job advertisement.

Well I guess this is to replace the bloke who probably just got the push after the Bochum mayhem. Hot seat.otyikondo wrote:

Well, problem with sacrifical lambs is that you need new lamb after each sacrifice...

From my experience, Finns appreciate an efficient and minimalist communication style.Jason Wright wrote:You must also be interested in key technologies and Nokia business strategy. I can image that the Bochum factory workers were notified of the pending closure by SMS (naturally to avoid an awkward face-to-face situation). Probably along the lines of this...A number of influential figures have been critical of the way that Nokia simply announced the shutdown, leaving no room for discussions - something that is seen as alien to present German culture.

Nokia Bochum factory will be relocated to Romania.
Enjoy the rest of your life!

On the other hand, what realities would have changed if this all had been done in "nice" way.
15 minute speech in which workers are told how wonderful people they are, how charming Bochum is and that they are all fired and factory moves to Romania.
Ok, some guys might not have been nearly as insulted right away, but by the time they figure out they just lost their jobs they will be very angry no matter how you present the case.

Re: JOB: Specialist, Employee Communications, NOKIA
well, Germany was a main driver, let's say motor, to build EU with free labor exchange. Now, they got something what was expected: migration to cheap labor.
Otherwise, this position looks as HR role. If I remember correctly, many people looking for a job without strong language requirements in non-IT field. I guess, such role could be very attractive. As far as I know, Nokia is equal opportunity employer, so people will be selected based on they skills and experience.

She seems nicer than the one we have in France :
Re: JOB: Specialist, Employee Communications, NOKIA
Well it's not, since it doesn't say anything about HR. It's internal comms for projects and services, just like it says in the ad.shrecher wrote:

Re: JOB: Specialist, Employee Communications, NOKIA
Don't complain on wording. IMHO, this position could be quite OK for many non IT-geek people or former HR clearсs or just people who likes communications.mCowboy wrote:Well it's not, since it doesn't say anything about HR. If someone interesting, I guess, she/he could ask the author about position details.
Re: JOB: Specialist, Employee Communications, NOKIA
it does require comms background and education, not just any old person, who likes write something. It also requires knowledge of IT-tools used in comms, such as MS office, Photoshop, Lotus Notes, etc. I know people who do this in Nokia.shrecher wrote:Don't complain on wording. Re: JOB: Specialist, Employee Communications, NOKIA
Sure. In modern world a person without "education" is just nothing. Knowledge about common IT tools like MS office just is sort of basic, the same as knowledge of using fock and knife. Knowledge of Photoshop is unlikely required. The "background", yes it could be challenge, but it very much depends on personality, I guess.mCowboy wrote: it does require comms background and education, not just any old person, who likes write something. hmm I really wonder what People who read this kind of post think about the FIRST word in the ad: "Specialist"..
If every tom dik and harry or mary jane thinks, just by knowing English, they can communicate..it renders the first word to be worse than an oxymoron!!

Re: JOB: Specialist, Employee Communications, NOKIA
I'm in the process of hiring a Comms Specialist / Coordinator for my projects, so I know exactly what I need, and someone with just good English is simply not good enough. They need to understand IT,business, marketing and communication, use the tools, be proactive, be a great communicator, have an ability to write good, vet very understandable text.
I'd imagine the role in the ad has similar requirements.
PS. There's not point of PMing me about the job, my company uses one of the temp agencies.
PSS. Do NOT PM me about any jobs or job inquiries, I CAN'T / WONT help you (unless I get paid for it).
