calculating odds

Post by Pursuivant » Thu Nov 06, 2008 9:43 am

There is 40 open jobs at a new Anttila in Rovaniemi. Some 1300 people applied. So thats 1280 people still looking for a small job as probably half of them are overeducated or just there before something in their line pos up. Meanwhile in Sweden the median time for an immigrant to find a job is seven years. Howcome I am not buying the politicians' brainfarts over a "need for workers"? Something they know I don't?? I'd say there is a desperate "need for jobs" in Northern Finland. The youth in Oulu for example are just idling. Nothing good will come out of that. The government thinks they will need to have some multiculturalism workshops in a few years they make drunk mischief in town.

Rubbish.

Many of those 1280 people will already have a job and were looking for a change. There will also be a number of the juoppo brigade who are forced to be "actively seeking work" by the työvoimatoimisto/Kela, yet everyone knows they are pretty much "unemployable".

Cause and effect is in the realm determinism, hence causes have causes so what ever happens in the new Anttila in Rovaniemi can be blamed on the “Big Bang”.

I was more on the lines are you unemployed because you are drunk or are you drunk because you are unemployed...ref to the school teacher in "Paha Maa" for example.

Many years ago fruit fell from the trees and began to ferment hence today we have the mass production of alcohol - see even that has a cause and effect on new Anttila in Rovaniemi and who and who does not get a job.

Not sure what calculator you used, but 1300-40 is 1260 in my book...

Anyway... Agree with the Karhunkoski that most of them probably just were looking for a way out of their current position for whatever reason.
Number of applicants doesn't equall number of unemployed people.

Sounds like 1300 people looking for a staff discount.

Wow lol, title should have been call 'beating the odds' thats almost like casino odds :P. I thought there would be a lot of tourism work in Rovaniemi since its like Santa town or something :S. But i guess theres not much else happening in Rovaniemi, hence the lack of jobs.
