Well said !"#¤%. Its individuals similar to yourself who create and generate an atmosphere of dread and doom for those wishing to contribute to your precious country. Finland needs foreign individuals to re-locate here and become part of the greater society but with an attitude like this you would wonder how and why. Your responses are ignorant and inconsiderant to those willing to take part in the development of this isolated country. Even a cleaner has their place in the advancement of the country. !"#¤%.So who here thinks that Finns are happy to use English to get you do your job in Finland?
If they can get someone else to do the same thing without need for English....
That Finns speak English does not mean that Finns want to or like speaking English. You, as employee without any critical skills, are the one who is begging.
Not the employer.
By the way, giving a break is not necessarily common trait in Finnish society. You either swim or drown.

What does Finland do with workers who do not integrate into society but instead try to import another society here? As if such situations have never caused problems in any other place...kawamotokid wrote:

What does employer do with workers who are not critically and urgently needed (in which case they are hired) and require extra effort to be made to understand that they first wipe with blue rag and then with red rag?
What does employer do with customer service staff who can't service customers? Part of that service is that you speak the language of native customer. There really isn't huge market for no-speak customer servants.
Honestly...
Those who score job without figuring out Finnish language or system. Count your blessings.
Those who have not scored a job and have no language or cultural skills. Don't presume you will. Far less of a disappointment that way when reality sinks in.

So it is a good filter between fortune seekers and people who are really motivated to contribute.kawamotokid wrote: Well said !"#¤%. Its individuals similar to yourself who create and generate an atmosphere of dread and doom for those wishing to contribute to your precious country.
For what reason? With the mass lay-offs we need no new beggars.Finland needs foreign individuals to re-locate here
There is a market for specialised functions, but it is small and there is an active search for them.
But for general jobs, I don't think so.
Which means integrate (and speaking the language is part of it)become part of the greater society

Still the same old sinisism and negative attitude shown. Great to see the bastions of Finnish arogance are alive and well.

You are so right. We are evil...
We Finns must accept that everything foreign is superior. If foreigner does not want to speak our barbarian language in our country...
It is we evil Finns who must learn to appease this foreigner, for one foreigner is worth 5 million Finns.
If holy foreigner does not deem it worthy to act properly in Finland according to Finnish cultural context. It is we Finns who must feel shame, shame that we dare to expect that holy and enlightened foreigner to respect in our country our culture.
For it is a sin! For everything foreign is superior. Nothing should be expected from foreigner, but everything should be offered to them. For they are superior due to being foreigner.
For what we Finns know of anything... Our way of life has only kept this country stable, safe and managed to make agrarian society turn into high tech country with our universities producing gadgets to just about every science probe/satellite. With population of 5 million. Such pathetic society should understand that everything foreign is superior, for our society and culture has never achieved anything.

Run out of arguments kiddy?
Re: Fiorenza from Italy! one more job seeker! ;)
It is hard to be positive when #1 news every day is massive lay offs on just about every field. Just today I heard that a friend has lost his company (= his livelihood), and another one is losing the family house to the bank.Still the same old sinisism and negative attitude shown.

Ciao Fiorenza,
Look, I have been reading this forum for a while and there are few things i'd like to say. First this is a forum for english speaking people. I live in London at the moment (though moving back to Finland) and if you have english as a mothertongue you are a linguistic handicap. Don't know why that is but english speaking people have difficulties with other languages. Therefore they expect other people to speak english and they themselves complain about the difficulties of finnish, german, chinese....anything. But you are Italian. And that should make it easier for you to learn finnish. Italians generally have a very good pronunciation of Finnish, and if you have ever studied at school Latin, that should help you with Finnish Grammar. At least that is my experience of Italians speaking Finnish.
Secondly, when I was younger I went to Italy with no Italian skills what so ever. Do you think I found a job?? No way. Italians generally did not speak english, sometimes little bit of german (I was in Veneto). What I found was what you need in Italy d to survive is two things: Language and Knowing (right)people. It was all about who knew this person or that etc. So wherever you go, you need to know the language and the people. And then you will have a good life Forza!!! Don't listen to these anglosaxon "moaners". That's what they do all day long here in England - moan and moan!!! And that what they do in this forum too.

Re: Fiorenza from Italy! one more job seeker! ;)
Hey, Are you still looking for a job? Have you found one?So, I wondering what am I doing wrong? or if I'm contacting the wrong recruitment agencies
As a matter of fact, I used to do jobhunting very much the way you've explained. I figured out a long time ago that the best way to find a job in this country is to sign up for a course that is offered by an unimployment office. Eventhough they are ment for the unemployed people they take in people with other status depending on a situation. Some courses are almost total useless but some of them can take to directly to a work. I've found a work that I like thank to those courses. Mine lasted 2 months. Otherwise would have been impossible to find a job.
Re: Fiorenza from Italy! one more job seeker! ;)
This is the reality!! Even for Finns!! so I leave it up to you to imagine what it could be like for foreigners..fiorentina wrote: Otherwise would have been impossible to find a job.
