hietalahti flea market

Post by zedkoman » Wed May 27, 2009 1:05 am

hi all,

does anyone know the steps that a potential stall vendor has to undergo to open a table to sell stuff in the hietalahti flea market?

i tried googling for the info and only found old links in finnish that weren't so helpful. Is there a special office that one has to go to

in the hietalahti kauppahalli? does anyone happen to know the cost? thanks in advance for the help.

Lupia saa halli- ja ulkomyynnin toimistosta, Sörnäistenkatu 1, ma–pe klo 8.15–16.00 sekä Hietalahden kauppahallin hallivalvojilta ma–pe klo 9–17 ja la 8–15.

One of my friend has been doing it a few times now. Thing is if it rains you won't sell anything... And of course you can't plan the weather when you book your table.

Just came back from there, I shared a table with a Finnish people today.
For Sat. and Sun, the daily rental is 22 euro, including an table, on which you can demostrate your product.
For Mon. to Fri. , the rental is 12 euro.

If you would like to rent the place on weekend, you need to book it as least 1 week in advance. While for the working days, you can make it the same day in the morning.

One key suggestion is avoid the rainning day, you can get nothing if it rains heavily. It was my own experience.

Sometimes, you cannot earn more on weekends than in working days. Although the visitors are much much more on weekends, the buyers are 10 even 20-30 times more, which means the buyer have more choices then.

I suggest you try both.

Are there regulations on what I can sell there? For instance, can I sell reloading equipment and supplies?

Remember that some supplies (powder, primers, some bullets?) need gun license/buying permit to buy, and as a seller it is your responsibility to check for that.

Similar to a Federal Firearms License in the U.S. I suppose. I wonder if I can get one of those in Finland even though I'm a foreigner?
