You need no capital to set up an "ry". Whereas an "oy" is 2500e minimum. I don't think any capital is required to set up a TMI though. I agree with Hank though, there is no big "benefit" to having an "ry" and many associations (eg football clubs, PTAs etc) operate without registering.

Then there are probably issues to do with liability... but I can't remember what they are. I know that when the PTA at the primary school turned into an ry, we took out extra insurance 'cos none of us on the committee wanted to be personally liable for mass food poisoning at the pot-luck supper. We did have one child break an arm on the swings during the Vappu disco, so it was money well spent.

"Benefit" is that if yoiu are FC Backyard and want to raise money, organize stuff... you have Penny and MCHammer there and if Penny says "gimme money" and it goes to Pennys own home account and she buys twoo weeks in Benidorm. Which there is FC Backyard RY - the are a "legal person" (as opposed to "natural person") so the RY can have a bank account regardless of people... also if Penny says "gimme money" that is illegal; RY can ask for donations/membersip fees, organize a bazaar... so benefit/no.... Say FC Backyard wants to play at Somewhere Stadium. McHammer rents Stadium. No show. MCHammer pays out of his own pocket everything... so RY is for an association what OY is for a TMI ;) Liability issues exactly.

Non registered association is not legal person = cannot have bank account, cannot do contracts (for example rent...) etc. so everything have to be done in the name of the persons running it.

No, I have opened bank accounts for non-registered associations (eg football clubs, PTAs). It is possible. Of course, you have to have a pöytäkirja and signatures (with ID numbers) etc. But it is possible.

I stand corrected.
Btw, if you have non-registered association, then community effort, even when paid into association's account, is considered wage and thus every participant should pay their taxes and other costs.
