Please be careful sharing such detailed personal information on the internet.
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

And perhaps you should go to local school of suitable level to ask about having your papers recognized for their Finnish equivalent.
For example:
"
Substation Entry (ENERGY AUSTRALIA)
High Voltage Safety Electrical Rules (ENERGY AUSTRALIA)"
While very nice, do not mean you have any grasp of Finnish HVSE rules.
And due to responsibilities and accident possibilities involved in electric work, very few employers are willing to hire you until you have Finnish equivalents of your certificates to hit into desk.
After all, who knows if down under you guys use black as ground... (silly example I know but should underline the point)

Yes i have tried!
The education department here will only verify and give me the equivalent Certificates once i have employment and a letter from the employer requesting my certificates to be reviewed.
And yes i do understand the safety factor. I have explained that to most employers, but some have overseen that issue, as i have worked on projects for Siemens, ABB, Reinhausen and Areva in Australia, and have been on there training courses and have worked with there European personal.
Im not too fussed about electrical work right now though.
Ill do anything i can, ive been applying in so many industries, cleaning, logistics, laboring, cooking, bar work...
absolutly everything.

Re: Electrical Fitter Seeking Work! JYV, TMP or HEL
- you're a foreigner
- you don't speak Finnish
- you don't have Finnish certificates.
that are 3 draw backs for applying in your field of expertise.
for applying outside that field you can add a 4th: - no relevant experience.
It's a harsh message, but you have to solve some of those draw backs before you'll have any chance of finding work in your field.
iirc an other electrician told about a kind of refresher course for foreign electricians to validate their papers. Search the forum for it.

Well, that's a good idea except that those keywords bring up exactly one topic. This one.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

However, you may have been thinking of: Electrical Training In English
And here's another with some Finnish probability mathematics made simple: trade jobs
I'm still trying to figure out the names of Nowheremäki and Somewheremäki in Finnish and Swedish. I was even hoping someone might have photographs of road signs showing the distance from Elsevaara.

Re: Electrical Fitter Seeking Work! JYV, TMP or HEL
thanks guys for all the info! ill get onto it tomorrow morning.
im going to stick it out here in Finland till the end of Jan, if i cant find work, i might apply for a UK visa, and jump ship there to find work. I have contacts at National Grid, and i may be able to get work there, and there will be no language barrier.
Id rather stay here in Europe than return to Australia, I gave up my 7 year career to come here, so i cant just give up.
Thanks again guys! all of you have a wonderful christmas and new year
