What does my salary mean?

Post by daivii » Tue Dec 22, 2009 8:58 pm

Hello,

i am resident in Finland, i recently got a job offer from embassy, so it means salary is not coming from Finland.
I got an impression that i have to pay all the taxes and social insurance myself. So for example if they say salary is 2000, what does it actually mean to me?

Maybe anyone knows if some other rules apply if salary comes from abroad?

Thank you very much.

If you'd need to pay also all the pension and social security fees (normally paid by the employer), then that would be something around 25% (I think) going out of your salary before you get to what normally is considered the gross (pre-tax) wage, and after that you would still have to pay the all the normal employee taxes and other payments, which you can estimate here: http://prosentti.vero.fi/veropros_aloit ... nguage=ENG

I think you'd better ask from here: http://www.vero.fi/?path=488,755&domain ... nguage=ENG
