Anyone tried crowdfunding in Finland?

Post by dflorin » Wed Jan 21, 2015 11:16 am

Does anyone have any experience with crowdfunding in Finland (or elsewhere)?

We're currently running a crowdfunding campaign for the magazine "Puhutaan suomea - Let's speak Finnish":

It would help us hear your experience / opinions about this.

Thanks, interesting read. Luckily, we're fine with our reward model for our campaign.

I think it's a nice idea and a great way to fund the next year's publications. But you need to make more people aware of it. Where and how do you advertise?

Also, you might qualify for a grant from the Advisory Board on Immigration and Integration of the City of Helsinki. They are currently inviting associations to apply (there is an ad on page 13 of this month's 6 Degrees newspaper).

It sounds like you meet most of the criteria.

Some lady tried to get a Swedish language book done, it and got into police trouble for illicit money gathering. I guess its all right as nothing happens in Finland

Yes, that was an important case... And I guess it explains why the OP's model is the way it is. They are asking for subscriptions, not investments or donations so not actually collecting money. If I remember correctly the original Mannerheim movie used a similar concept: they were pre-selling tickets (but failed anyway).
(And I also remember a certain political party selling art work.... )
