Foreign pharmacists in Finland

Post by TheEeyra » Tue Mar 08, 2016 5:07 pm

Hi, friends!

I am planning on moving to Finland this summer (2016) and I am looking for a job in a pharmacy. The whole process is very complicated and I would like to ask if amongst you is anybody who might have gone through the whole title recognition, possible exams, etc. process. I need some advice in this matter. Anything is welcome.

Thank you very much!

Hi,

So you already completed your pharmacy studies? Then you have to apply with Valvira to get your right to practice in Finland, see here: http://www.valvira.fi/web/en/healthcare ... ice_rights

To get a job in a pharmacy you will have to be fluent in Finnish I would say. How are your language skills?

Hello,

snap, so my post is gone. Well, again then.

I will be a master's degree pharmacist soon, and I will graduate in Czech Republic. Here are the facts that I know:
- I need to apply for the title recognition to Valvira
- I read the Act of Health Care Professionals and it mentions that I might need to do either adaptation period or aptitude examination, whichever I choose
- the webpage of faculty of pharmacy, of the University of Helsinki says that applicants apply for a non-degree study or something like that, and need to have a language skill 4, well I might be something around A1 :D
-> all concluded I don't understand that if for the recognition itself I need the language certificate, because then Valvira webpages say that I shouldn't but my employer might need some proof of my language skills. OBVIOUSLY I won't work as a pharmacist anytime soon because I don't speak the language but I just don't understand the whole title recognition procedure. And Valvira is not responding to me yet :( So I am looking for somebody that might have gone through this all. (Ofc the EU directive changed recently but still any info is better than none)

Are you a pharmacist by any chance?

Thank you! :) (copying this to make sure haha)

Exactly the link I had posted before. All the information is there. If you need more information, contact Valvira, they can answer them.

I recommend reaching out to professional organizations or regulatory bodies specific to pharmacy in Finland. They often provide valuable resources and guidance for international professionals seeking to practice in the country. Additionally, connecting with expatriate communities or online forums for expats in Finland could provide insights from individuals who have gone through similar processes. They may offer firsthand experiences, tips, and advice to help streamline your journey.
