I'm posting on behalf of my partner as we are looking into relocating to Finland from UK. I am a Finn, and quite sure I can get a decent job with my experience so at least half of us will be sorted. However, my other half's situation is bit trickier. He has PhD in Finance and is currently working in academia as a researcher. It's quite evident that the career opportunities in academia in Helsinki are limited, so he is looking into moving to industry.
The question is: which companies/organisations could be interested in a person who has PhD in Finance (specialism corporate governance, payout policy), some published research, teaching experience, and some pre-PhD experience from fund management, investment banking and working for a regulator? Essentially the transferable skills would probably be handling big amount of data and making sense of it, teaching/coaching and doing highly analytical work.
Personally I have kind of lost touch with Finnish business world having gone to university in UK and subsequently worked there for several years, so any ideas where to start, or what industries to consider beyond banking/consulting, are most welcome!
