Hourly rate for working in the cafe

Post by molly_molly » Sun Jul 02, 2017 9:30 pm

Hello, I'd like to ask some help from the people who have worked or is working in the cafe as helper/waiter/waitress. What hourly rate is considered as good and acceptable for a person with 2-3 years experiences in the business, what about for a person who doesn't have any experience? Does the education background of catering or hotel study or such mean a higher hourly rate has to be offered? Thanks a lot for your help.

One of my kids has Perho (catering college) + several years experience and works for a major hotel chain (Sokotel) and gets about the same + benefits as he is employed by the company. The money is awful and the conditions are not great. He rarely gets two days off in a row and invariably gets called in even on his days off to replace colleagues who are "sick". The work is the same day in, day out. But it pays the rent while he is studying so he never complains. The industry is rife with exploitation but as long as people expect cheap food, nothing will change.
