Independent worker/subcontractor/leased employee

Post by Jun S » Tue May 08, 2018 10:29 am

Hi everyone,

I'm facing a little bit of a problem here.
I'm French but living in Japan. I'm relocating in Finland in a couple of month. But I will keep on working for my company as a Subcontractor (so I suppose Freelancer in a way).

And that's where it gets a little bit messy for me.

I'll be paid hourly the same amount everymonth. However, I wouldn't be technically an employee of the company (a subcontractor).

Is there a specific statue for this?

And if not, and I have to register myself as a Self Employee, I know that I'll have to pay the VAT and the YEL. Does the YEL is calculated on what's left after the VAT was taken? And will I have to pay income taxes once the VAT and the YEL are paid?

I'm sorry I ask so much questions, but I can't really find a lot of clear answers online ^^"

Thank you all for your help.

Plenty. The classification is called a private trader.

For services sold to a Japanese company, it's zero VAT.

It is not. It's based on what salary would be paid for the equivalent job. In practise the insurance company approves your own evaluation.
