Hello everyone!
I'm a non-EU citizen and I've received a really awesome job offer in Helsinki, which I took it and I'm about to apply for a RP using the Specialist Application. The thing is: I don't have a higher education, but have A LOT of experience.
The Migri.fi website states:
"If you do not have a higher education degree or your salary is smaller but you still want to apply for a residence permit for a specialist, your application must clearly explain why your work is an expert task that requires special expertise."
How can I explain why and how my work requires special expertise?
Should I just write a letter and attach it to the application? Should my employer write something?
Do any of you have experience with this kind of situation?
And hijacking my own post...
I have a wife, and she will apply at the same time as me. We need to fill out the PK1 Plus form. But it kinda assumes that I've already the RP (it asks for my "Personal identity number", for instance).
How do I properly fill out this form? Anyone with experience on this situation too?
Kiitos!

Definitely a letter from your employer carries more weight than just your own explanation, they were the ones that hired you, for your expertise, despite you not having a degree.

Hi there,
Just in case anyone wonders what happened to my situation.
I did managed to get my permit without a degree.
The only thing I did to complement my application was to write a simple letter stating why I am a specialist and why my services would be needed. Everything else was just the standard requested documentation.
Thanks and good luck if you need it!

Yes very helpful! Do you know if there is any sample of such letter, or structure?Jeolwuk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 12:54 amHi there,

I applied on the same circumstances and I didn’t need a letter or whatsoever, only a few lines to explain why your experience is enough for this job position and why you are an specialist.
You don’t need a separated letter because there is a section for additional information that’s relevant to the application where you can put this.

Hey there!
Sorry for the late reply!
I didn't use a model for it, it was just a few lines detailing my experience.
Think along the lines of a cover letter, but way more simpler.
Happy holidays!

Simple is definitely better here. No fluff or pleasantries needed at all in this case. Just a couple sentences stating facts.
Re: IT Specialist without degree
It worked! I put in the notes field online, attached my worked experience signed by previous employer, and an invitation letter from the new employer.
Thanks everyone!

Hello,
What exactly should I write in that section, something like - "I started coding 7 years ago and have lot of experience with the different languages/technologies" or I need to describe all my experience i.e. write about all companies where I worked before etc ?
