Will the government pls provide a basic Finnish course for Sodankylä?

There are 4 non-Finnish adults here excluding me. I've been trying to learn Finnish on my own (using CDs, internet, books) but it's going SO slow...

Sob sob...

I think you answered your own question, it's the low numbers that count :(

Still, I've heard some on here say that they attended a couple of classes, thought they were rubbish and then just went off and learnt by speaking with Finns.

I sympathise though, I've been learning on and off all my life and I'm still struggling! Everyone will give you the same advice, it's not easy, stick at it, you will win in the end :)

Chin up and keep happy, it'll be November soon! :D

Kind of the same here. I've learnt more with friends and books than at school.

Kyllä sä pariat! :P

THX for your kind words, sudentassu and Alejandro!

I've always been more of a "classroom" girl when it comes to learning a language and since I'm a bit of a loner, I still don't have any Finnish friends yet. Well there's Höpöhöpö, though. But still learning the language on one's own feels like grabbing whatever you can grab he he he...

But I've just heard some good news from my English friend here. She went to unemployment office and asked for a course (apparently there're 7-10 foreigners here who need the course) and the lady said that MAYBE there'll be one next January.

I HOPE SO!!! I'll be REALLY looking forward to it!!!
