FolkClub Music session:Friday 8th. January 2010

Post by skotti » Wed Jan 06, 2010 1:59 pm

Happy New Year - and to keep the holiday momentum going right up to the arrival of Knuttipukki, we have some more music on offer - a special appearance of the "Fashion Criminals" at this Friday's session... they're only on for a short appearance, so still bring your own guitars, banjos, candolins, tubas and bongos etc and help (belatedly) first-foot the folk club this Friday.

FolkClub @ FinnBrit on Friday 8th January 2010 8:30 pm - ~11:30 pm
Fredrikinkatu 20A, Helsinki (Ring the FinnBrit doorbell)

Regards,
Scott

Hi

Can anyone attend or do I need to RSVP?
I'm a British guitarist/singer living in Finland.

No need to RSVP - just show up (with guitar, if you like) sometime between 8.30-11.30pm this Friday - the International FolkClub (@ the FinnBrit) is open to EVERYONE - all types of music, all types of instruments, all nationalities, ... from beginners to semi-pro and no need to perform if you don't feel like it... many just come along for a listen, a beer and a yack (mostly in English, .. of course ... myös suomeksi, på svenska ... whatever suits :)

The meet is held in the FinnBrit - mainly a language/cultural centre (no need to be a member to attend the folkclub) ... The FinnBrit is anyway is well worth a visit for their other activities http://www.finnbrit.fi/ - see below for map.

.. . we ask for a €1-2 donation for the hall rental +we also have some beer/refreshments on offer at (just above) cost.

As for the (always live) music... we've had quite a mix sometimes... from Eastern European choirs, Jazz Bands, Rock, classical, loopers, rock, blues, country .. sometimes solo, sometimes we jam... of course we sometimes have pure folk (folk music may not always be to everyone's tastes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvR6d08L3nc ).

If you don't know where we are ... it's fairly central, near the IsoRoba nightlife... 3B tram, Bus 14 to Fredrikinkatu 20, 00120 Helsinki, Finland
