Vilppulan urhojen muistolle

Post by USA_Finn_01 » Sat May 05, 2018 10:52 am

Hello,

I am American with Finnish ancestry. I only speak English. How should I go about to learn how to sing Vilppulan urhojen muistolle ?

Start going through the alphabet? I don't know how this is any different from starting language studies except you presumably just want the pronunciation. There should be lots of videos on YT for this.

Thanks for the reply,

Where can I find the lyrics?
I think I understand the Finnish alphabet. I still have a Finnish alphabet book I had when I was a kid put away with other childhood mementos.

"Lyrics" in Finnish is just "sanat".

I found this through the song's wikipedia page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYniRx6ETxI
Hope that's what you were after! There was also a version with a mostly okay English translation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox6c-8EF858

Wow, that's a very stirring song actually! Well I guess military marches tend to be that way. The next one isn't far behind... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nehkhIOa-0
