Who needs to buy the SupiSuomea book?

Post by gavin » Mon Sep 08, 2003 9:28 pm

Hey.

I just got back from my Finnish class. All 6 of us  (in Hamina)

We'll be using the SupiSuomea book and web as a basis for our course http://www.yle.fi/opinportti/supisuomea/, but we 'aint gonna get a discount for 'bulk' ordering the books with just 6 of us.

We need to get 20 orders minimum to get a discount. Anyone interested, or shall we all shell out the full whack?

I advertised the IEASF to my fellow students, and promised to ask here to see if we could get the numbers up to 20.

Logistics? I'll order to books, and bring them to Helsinki for people to collect.

Cheers
Gavin

Hi Gavin,
I'd be very much interested, depending on the amount of the discount. I will be starting my Finnish language course on Monday 15th September and can see the other students ( I haven't meet them yet, but I hear there is 15 plus) are interested in getting together to bulk buy the book.
I think the retail price is around €34,00.

Hei kaikille

Sorry, I have been 18-20 hours/day work.

I asked YLE about the book, this is what they e-mailed me:

------

hopefully Supisuomea book is available in your local bookstore, if not ask them to get it for you. As well you can order it direct from publisher Finlectura. The website in http://www.finnlectura.fi. From publisher it cost 28 euros. Did you know that it is recommended if you can join a group for Finnish learning. In Finland they are called evening classes in "Työväen or Kansalaisopisto". Check these websites out : http://www.opisto.hel.fi/ http://www.opintoluotsi.fi/english/
Try to find a group in your city or area where you live.
The internet site has the same content that the television serial. You can learn there whenever you want and you can make the listening and text comprehension excercises. Click around the website and especially if you need first aid help in Finnish check the "fraasit" http://www.yle.fi/opinportti/supisuomea/fraasit/

Hi,
I was in the Acedemic Bookshop ( stockmans) in Helsinki yesterday and "Supisuomea" is on sale there for €24.00. I also started my Finnish language (based on Supisuomea) course yesterday, in Tampere, where we were told that the book costs €30.00 with a 10% discount (ie €27.00) once you enrolled in the course.
So the best bet is to buy the book from the Acedmic bookshop in Helsinki, the book is with the language material on the 2nd floor.
