>> "Learn Finnish" - free language program is online!! <<
iwona wrote:Just wanted to say thanks for the program! Finally something made my husband happy to start learning Finnish! He learnt three levels in one evening and I kept asking him for translation of some of words in the next morning and he still remembered them! Mind you, my husband in the morning doesn't remember his own name, lol!
He is English/Irish with no language skills, I am Polish/Russian - and I am Polish, Russian and English speaking plus some Finnish as I spent a year in Finland. We hope to move propably 2005 so we need to learn the language fast!
Thanks once again!
Re: trying to access the Learn Finnish site
Trish, have you tried the password retrieval thingy? If it still didn't work, go ahead and just re-register.TrishPaakkonen wrote:Hi Phil...I have the same problem. I know both my log in and password and STILL cant log onto this Learn Finnish site......Any suggestions?

Thanks for helping me with teaching Finnish to my my foreign friends There's something to correct though... I'm a native Finnish speaker and wasn't able to pass Adverb Stems without using multiple choice answers
far=kaukana
near='lähellä' is more common than 'liki'
with=kanssa The right answer was 'muka' but it doesn't mean anything. You can say: Onko sinulla rahaa mukana? Do you have money with you? (I'm not very good at English so I'm not sure if the English sentence is correct)
side vieri??? side by side may be 'vieri vieressä' but side doesn't mean vieri
away sisä seka ympäri seka taka poiki It doesn't mean any of these
I tried some other lessons and they were great.

Thanks from Novice to Finnish
Thanks for putting the site up, Phil. I am new to trying to learn Finnish and in the USA so I really have to seek opportunities for exposure. Any projection on when sound files might be added? Hearing things is a big help to those of us who are far away from hearing Finnish spoken regularly.

There is a speech sythetizer that does sounds like a machine, but to get the correct 'intonationless' speech you can fiddle around with it.

They have a demo there you can copypaste a word to (helps with short words like 'kolmivaihevaihtovirtakilowattituntimittari')

Yah, the percentage can sometimes get screwey, but it appears to happen rarely, I need to look into that. Does it happen often with you?
What do you mean, "what's happened with the wordlist?" Is it gone??
