Nykyajan Kalevalaa, tekijä tuntematon,

Tuho tulkoon tietoverkkoon,
piru pc:n periköön.
Nouskoon käry skannerista,
pauke kuulukoon koneista.

Valvoin hullu vuorokauden,
tehdessäni tiedostoa,
joka otti ja katosi,
pyyhkiytyi kuin poutapilvi,
vaiko virus sen tuhosi.

Kirjoittamaan käydessäni,
ruvetessani runolle,
haikuillenpa hankkeissani,
tankan tuottoon tahtoessa.

Tilttasi tehopelini,
kompuutterini kärähti,
näytönohjainta närästi,
empi myös emolevyni.

Jopa mustui mielen muoto,
kävi kasvot kalvakaksi,
käsitteli kännykkäänsä,
apuvoimia aneli.

Saapui huolto huomenissa,
kannen alle kurkisteli.
Kotvasen konetta tutki,
siitä loihi lausumahan,
sanasen virkkoi.

Myy jo myllysi museoon,
kuljettele kierrätykseen
ikäloppu ihmehesi,
reporanka rakkineesi,
ei tule kalua tästä.

Osta entistä ehompi,
vehje uusi uljahampi,
kirjokansi kirkkahampi,
joka kirjaa kiirehesti,
eikä vitkaan vikise.

Kotvan kaivoin kupehetta,
kurkistelin kukkaroa,
laskeskelin lanttejani,
etsiskelin eurojani,
enkä löytänyt mitänä.

Petollinen pentiumi,
vanha mikroni mitätön,
teki tempun tietäjälle,
rumat runon rustaajalle.

Nyt saa riittää rimpuiluni,
painun perkele pellolle,
menen metsään miettimähän,
kera pännän ja paperin.

Tää on mitä tapahtui keväällä jossain firmassa. Tekijät tuntematommia.

Jyrkimöisen tervehdys XXXistä:

Tuli kauhea pomonen,
mölysi hirveä määrääjäinen,
suu vaahtosi, parta järisi,
sanoi rahan loppunehen,
Sammon ehtynehen:
"Suu nyt säkkiä myötänehen,
muutoin tulee potkunehen,
tälli takamuksihin kauhea,
osuma himuloinen,
kopsaus kolahtavainen."
Tuumi alainen poloinen,
mietti pieni ihiminen,
mietti tunnin, mietti toisen,
mietti kohta kolmannenki,
itse tuon sanoiksi virkki:
"Ompa pihi ukko,
pää kiveä, suu savea,
silmät suon hillakoista,
hiukset hukkain hännistä,
varsi lahosta puusta.
Miksei kajoa kassahan,
valuuttahan firman voittamahan,
siitä jakoa hyvöä,
syöäksemme muonaksemme,
juoaksemme huppeliksemme,
duunareiden kitoihin,
parempihin pitoihin."

Ja joku käänsi sen englanniksi näin:

So came the terrible chiefling,
made noise the dreadful commandant:
with mouth watering, beard rumbling,
shouted we are penniless,
Sampo left us helpless.
"Quickly measures grandiouses,
alas you are fired,
sacked will thy bottoms be,
with a mighty kick,
a handsome hit"

This pondered the little pawn,
wondered the subordinate,
thought through the smallest one:
considered an hour or two,
even started a third
only then uttered he:
"What scrooge is this,
with head of stone, mouth of clay,
eyes out of berries of bog,
body made of soft wood.
The company vault is untouched,
treasures are why not used.
deal that loot out,
to eat for our nourishment,
to drink for happy drunkennes,
for the mouths of the workers,
for feasts to come.

(*) Sampo = a mythical machine, an equivalent of the horn of plenty in Kalevala

Ja toinen version:

Jyrkimöisen manaus

Nousi korkea pomonen,
tietäja sammon taikojehen,
määrääjä taitoväkehen,
etehen omain alaisten,
luokse osoavien seppien.
Valtias tuikeasti määräsi,
suu salamoi, parta järisi,
kuria nyt komentoloitsi,
menosia kunkku kuulusteloitsi,
varoja varmoja vaadiskeloitsi.
Sanoi sammon ehtyneen,
varain vakoittain vähentyneen,
kunkun näin köyhtynehen,
pahoin siitä ärtynehen:
"Suu nyt säkkiä myötänehen,
muutoin tulee potkunehen,
tälli takamuksihin kauhea,
osuma hirmuloinen,
kopsaus kolahtavainen."
Pohti alainen poloinen,
mietti pieni ihminen,
tuumi tovin, tuumi toisen,
tuumi kohta kolmannenki.
Yksi alainen poloinen,
työtehinen, taitohinen,
potku-uhanalainen,
itse tuon sanoiksi virkki:
"Ohoh pihi Roope,
mikset kajoa kassahan,
sammon antihin saatuhun,
väen joukoin tahkoamaan,
urhoin omain uurastamaan,
vaimoin ahkerain ahertamaan.
Siitä jakoa hyvöä,
osanen kullekin leveä,
syöäksemme, mutusteloiaksemme,
juoaksemme, huppeloitsiaksemme,
jaa'aksemme omiksemme,
anti omihin kitoihin,
kylläisihin pitoihin.
Kuules ylimys Roope,
ällös esitä itarata,
väkees suohon laulaha,
ei saa siitä kunniata,
mainetta, arvoa maireata.
Ompi pihi pökkelöinen,
kitsas aina kuppeloinen,
pää kiveä, suu savea,
tukka hukkain hännyköista,
silmät suon hillakoista,
parta pahaisista pahnoista,
varsi lahoista puista -
Iku-Tursokin karttaa moista.
Oi ukko ylipomo,
kutsu luokses ilman kokko,
lennä tykö Antero Vipusen,
sanoja pyyä, loitsut lueta,
mahtitavuset nyt sanohuta,
värssyt vikkelästi viserrytä.
Kerää palat, poimi murut,
noua koolle visaat gurut,
laula taas sampo ehoksi,
teetä taiat, laula loitsut,
soita hauki-kannel soinnut.
Näin taas mainehen yltähät,
ehdan sammon kyhäytät,
uuen ilon kohotat,
elon kaiken ehostat,
näille Väinölän ahoille,
kankahille kaunihille."

Ja vielä englannin käännös:

The Incantation of Jyrkimöinen

He rose up, the High King,
wizard of Sampo magic,
governor of skilled men,
up in front of his subjects,
before the splendid wrights.

The chief harshly shouted,
words like thunder, with beard rumbling,
demanded discipline,
lessening expenses,
less spendings,
more winnings-

Said Sampo has grown dry,
Mobile Midas Touch weakening,
king is restless,
becoming poorer:

"Quickly measures grandiouses,
alas you are fired,
sacked will thy bottoms be,
with a mighty kick,
a handsome hit"

This pondered the little pawns,
meditated the cubicle guys,
thinked over the modern peasants,
considered an hour or two,
many even more.

One then, poorer lamb
smart and hardworking,
axe-threatened, braver still,
uttered these words of wise:

"Oh thee stingy Lord,
company treasures are why not used
vaults are left untouched?
The silver brought by works of men,
the gold earned by honest women,
the plentiful riches out of overtime work?

Deal that loot out,
to eat for our nourishment
to drink for happy drunkennes,
for smiles and for shoutings
for better times and better tides!

Hear me, Scrooge
better not be greedy,
be singing men into marshes,
for it shall bring no face,
no eminence, nor sweet glory

A penny-pincher is a petty lord,
a miserly man just plainly bore:

his mouth of clay, head so sore,
hair of wolvish tails,
eyes out of bog berries,
beard out of dried mud,
flesh carved of so-so wood-

Something even Iki-Turso will avoid

Grand Leader, master of many,
rise up to thy great wings,
fly instead far to Antero Vipunen,
to ask for his words of power,
to request his great magic,
to beseech his vast knowledge.

Gather then the new spells,
summon up the wise Gurus,
sing Sampo back from deaths door:
playing the Kantele does always avail.

This is then how glory will be:
Your Sampo baking riches
and merriness is found a new,
into the soil of Väinölä,
into its forever-green fields.

--> In Kalevala, and still today in some corners of Finland, people are able to create such True music with their Kantele that indeed it will force a person to sink down into the bottom of a bog.

The modern 'kantele'is known as 'Karaoke' and indeed, I'd rather immerse my head into a pail of water than listen to it...
Cheers, Hank W.
