On line Finnish Verbs Conjugation and grammer

Post by PeterF » Wed Jun 11, 2003 11:02 am

I thought those of you starting to learn Finnish might find this link usefull.

http://www.verbix.com/languages/finnish.shtml

If you know the verb in its first infinitive type it into the conjugate box to see all of it forms.
If you dont know the verb or how to spell it correctly in the first Inf either use your dictionary or set the search box "to Finnish from" to English type in the english verb.
Have fun...

Yes it OK ..but take care I have found some errors in the Glossaries.
e.g. English to Finnish "to walk" is given as marssia..which means "to march."
the verb.."kävellä" appears in the conjugations but not in the glossaries. :o

Peter

It is strange that "walk" is translated as "marssia". I agree.
Have you noticed that this verb conjugator conjugates even non-existing Finnish verbs like "puluttaa". If the word looks like a Finnish verb the conjugator accepts it but you get this note : "Warning! The verb you entered does not exist in Verbix database. The conjugations may not be accurate." So far it has managed to conjugate all my selfmade verbs correctly.

>> pigeonization <<

pigeonization = pulutus

pigeonize = puluttaa, as in "Älä puluta minua!" ( Do not pigeonize me ! ) :lol:
