Swedish at 4% in Finland, any countries smaller?

Post by Phil » Thu Mar 18, 2004 4:46 pm

Swedish, an official language of Finland, is the native tongue of approx. 4% of Finns. Which countries have a smaller percentage of people speaking an official language of that country?

I'm going to guess at one: India.

Has there suddenly been a die-off of Finland Swedes? Last I heard it was down to 5.5 %.

I'm sure you're right about India and that will apply to a lot of countries which have English as an official language as a hangover from the old Empire days.

The Netherlands :P

Fries: 2.4 % of the population has it as a mothertongue.
