Business terms

Post by Kimi » Tue Jul 13, 2004 5:55 pm

Sorry about this. This may be an idiotic question, or else these words may really have two different meanings.

Between my English-Finnish dictionary and a glossary from Finland's tax guide I have come up with these words:

myyntivoitto: capital gains
luovutusvoitto: capital gains

myynti: sales
liikevaihto: sales

Are these meanings the same, or do they have different connotations?

Kiitos!

If you want a Finnish/English glossary of accounting terms a good book is:
Kijanpitkolaki ja asetus (Accounting act and Ordinance) it is in three languages Finnish/English and Swedish and as it is a legal document is very accurate.
It is not expensive..about 30€ and can be bought by mail order from KHT Media Helsinki...

Thank you! That makes sense. I'll order that book when I figure out how to.

If anyone else is interested, this site has a nice glossary in the back for some taxation and investment terms.
