If he ever does come back here, I just want to say that I'm having troubles with the umlauts. I can type them, either with my keyboard or with the buttons provided, but it doesn't seem to recognise them as correct. For example, when I type "ehkä", it tells me I got it wrong, and that the correct answer is "ehkä".

Other than that, it's great!

I just signed up on the Finnish School site to try it out. On the front page, it says: "You will be given 20-25 words in either Finnish or English. At first you can use multiple choice. Once you're comfortable with that you type in the word directly. And once you're comfortable with that you take a quiz on those words and move on to a new set of words".

When I log in, I can only go to "Practice Vocabulary". In here, I select if I want English - Finnish or vise versa and start. I've gone to almost 40 words now and still no end to this and no answers given to me? How far do I go until I receive some answers to the questions I've done up until now?

I haven't looked at this yet, but it looks like it'll be a perfect start for me.

Although saying that, I'm very much into listening & speaking, so hope it'll help me on my way. I'd like to learn Finnish so that I can talk to my girlfriend in her native tongue

problem is that while I know the spelling of jaatelo, it is practically impossible to generate the umlaut so of course I will flunk that part (there should be a section to allow conversion of a,o or click here if you are unable to enter a with 2 dots..)

Well I know the code for the ä is alt+0228 for me and for the ö its alt+0246 but i'm in uk and my numpad hates me these days lol

Dunno if Phil's still around but I just completed level 3 exam and it's ticked me off as level 4. It's not really a problem - just annoying is all.

But it has some bugs, sometimes I type a word and it's correct and it shows the same word again.

But I like the idea, if I have time let's see if I can make similar page for Finnish - Czech.
