Technical dictionary English-Finnish-English?

Post by Sanna B. » Mon Jan 03, 2005 3:18 pm

Coud somebody recommend us a good English-Finnish-English dictionary for technical (IT) terms and phrases?

After a weekend trying to encrypt finnish job offers - me speaking antiquated finnish but no "IT-ish" (there was no IT 15 years ago  ), my husband beeing german IT professional but understanding no finnish - we really could use a dictionary

Theres an english to finnish
http://www.tt-tori.fi/atk-sanakirja/eng ... sallys.htm

and an finnish-english-finnish (bottom of page en-su and su-en links)
http://www.lexitec.fi/glossary.html

But they are more IT terminology and not to transcribe bull's hits from job ads where you need a "Finnish Advertese - Normal Finnish" translation to understand what they might mean in the first place...

You can also post the ad/phrase here in kielikoulu and someone can tackle it. Usually the translation needs to be done 4 times over: What they say, what they mean, what they mean literally, whats the buzzword in English....
