Would you like to learn the basics of Finnish before your arrival, or have you already learnt the fundamentals but would like support with any particular aspects of the language? Are you preparing for the YKI test and would like help with listening, speaking or writing Finnish?
I am a native Finnish speaker and offer private lessons over the weekends, teaching pronounciation, vocabulary, grammar and conversational Finnish skills. I reside in London and conduct lessons via Skype - you can therefore be based in London, Finland or anywhere else!
For those just starting to learn the language, my lessons cover the topics and grammar one would wish to master when entering a new country, such as:
• counting and spelling
• grammar and sentence structures
• talking about the time
• asking for help
• purchasing things at a store
• talking about yourself and your background
• any specialist vocabulary as requested.
If you already know the basics of Finnish, but would like assistance with grammar, conversational speech or vocabulary, I am very happy to design the lessons around your needs. I also assist students preparing for the YKI test, and am happy to focus the lessons on whichever aspects you find the trickiest and want more practice in, be it speaking, listening or writing Finnish.
It is important that the lessons focus on what your goals and outcomes are, and I have found it immensely helpful to start the learning process with a brief (free) chat discussing what your goals are, what level of language fluency your timeline allows us to aim for and whether there is vocabulary relating to any specific topic you wish the lessons to cover.
I am originally from Finland and have spent the last nine years studying and working in London. I completed a degree in law and currently work in business development, also offering language tutoring and translation services. I am extremely dedicated to helping my students achieve their goals in learning Finnish whatever the timeline – whether we have a month or a weekend to prepare, we will get there!
My hourly fees for private tuition start from 25€ per hour, with lessons generally varying from 1.5 to 2 hours per lesson, as required.
