Easy poetry in Finnish?

Post by Lillukka » Fri Jan 02, 2015 3:29 pm

Hiya, a colleague of mine tried to talk to me about poetry. Now, I manage most conversations in Finnish quite well but here I was totally lost. Eino Leino apparently uses only parts of words, and dialect versions, so that I felt very, very miserable.

Still I suppose there is good and understandable Finnish poetry. Can you recommend something which is not meant for preschoolers? Kiitos!

Are you looking for Finnish poems or a discussion about Finnish poetry. There are many Finnish peoms available online. Google results: this link

Sano heti jos minä häiritsen,
hän sanoi astuessaan ovesta sisään,
niin minä lähden saman tien pois.

Sinä et ainoastaan häiritse,
minä vastasin,
sinä järkytät koko minun olemustani.
Tervetuloa.

Tell me immediately if I'm disturbing you,
He said, coming in the door,
And I will leave right away.

You not only disturb,
I answered,
You shake my whole being.
Welcome.
