Pankki ei rahaa kaipaa
Re: Pankki ei rahaa kaipaa
Crazy country. The banks don't accept cash deposits
Jukka, do you know if they set up a "crowdsourcing" fund for those kids?

Re: Pankki ei rahaa kaipaa
From Yle Uutiset Selkosuomeksi:
Kilpisjärven koulun opettaja kertoi asiasta sosiaalisessa mediassa ja tarina levisi nopeasti. Sen jälkeen Nordea-pankki kertoi, että se antaa Kilpisjärven koululaisille 4 000 euroa leirikoulua varten.
Re: Pankki ei rahaa kaipaa
Yep. Nordea, whose live tellers are no longer allowed to handle cash deposits or withdrawals except during certain limited hours and certain weekdays, or in some branches not at all, reacted quickly so as not to let this escalate into a total PR catastrophe. So the kids got their money "back" that way.Rekkari wrote:From Yle Uutiset Selkosuomeksi:Kilpisjärven koulun opettaja kertoi asiasta sosiaalisessa mediassa ja tarina levisi nopeasti. Did they give it all back? The YLE news in English article reads to me like they only made "a contribution (...) towards the lost (...) money", ie not the whole amount:
Guilty conscience?
Nordea Bank has since announced online that it would offer a contribution of 4,000 euros towards the lost field trip money.
Re: Pankki ei rahaa kaipaa
I haven't seen exact figures of how much they lost. This story says it was "several thousand euros".Rosamunda wrote:Did they give it all back? The YLE news in English article reads to me like they only made "a contribution (...) towards the lost (...) money", ie not the whole amount:
There are only 14 students in that school, so the €4000 they got from Nordea works out to approximately 285 euros each.

The school now accepts donations, not only for the field trip but also to help rebuilding and equipping a new schoolhouse. Their account is with... Nordea.

Is there any other bank with better customer service closer to Kilpisjärvi? (within this country) . Possibly not. Besides, they got the 4000.Jukka Aho wrote:Their account is with... Nordea.
