Hi,
I am about to join Helsinki School of Economics for the MBA program.
Can someone throw some light on the job prospects in Finland post MBA, especially for me , being an Indian.

How about an English speaking country (provided you have the right visas etc) as your English seems pretty good? Although I haven't a clue as to how well regarded a Finnish MBA would be in other countries.

Well, the HSE has a MBA that is accredited by both AMBA and EQUIS so I'd guess it'd 'fly'...

I do not have the knowledge of Finnish language, although i am well versed with the English language.
Since the MBA is an international MBA, students from various nationalities are invited.
Suggestions about pursuing the MBA and also the chances of getting recruited are welcome

Of course people who pay are always "invited"

What I would say is that your biggest objective is to make a good network. Both with the internationals, but as well with the Finns. If you end up looking for a job from a Finnish-based international company it is always an asset someone knows you... but I'd keep my eyes open there for all possibilities.

getting an MBA from helsinki is good off course, but i guess the lack of the local language will hinder you in finland, as almost all basic stuff happens in this language, it is not like a computer programming ....as in Mba you have to interact with people...but i guess u can off course try in some english speaking countries....after that -!!

anyway good luck to you on choosing the proper mba!!

Hi Chandan,

I just graduated with MBA from the same school, so I can tell you the programme you are taking will bridge gaps in your skills base and widen your contact network. It won’t provide you with a guaranteed ticket to a top job, you still need a reputation or potential for that of course, but it will give a solid grounding on which to build your career.

In Finland, speaking and writing in Finnish is often mandatory for domestic client facing or managerial roles, you cannot escape that. Some companies may overlook it in certain circumstances - like you know someone there, or there are a lack of certain skills in Finland, or you offer something really compelling to them.

There are usually more openings in back-office positions for non-Finnish speakers. Then there are companies with operational interests in India, your local knowledge would be advantageous and an MBA certainly reinforces your credibility.

My recommendation would be to use your MBA business project to approach companies, get your foot in the door and start working with them. You may learn of a new positon before it is advertised.
