We'v had a couple of Finland Forum gatherings in some bars, for example Mattill invited us to Juttutupa, was it in November? I could not go then, but I went out another time with Hank and one American girl.

I think we could invite each others more or less regularily - so how about FF monthly meetings? Weekday might be an issue - some people would like it on weekends, while others would not.

(BTW I'm taking easy with parties for a few days now, since somehow I'v had parties for the last 7 days.  )

Claudio´s Finnish skills are very limited ( Yes, I am sure! ). That does not prevent him from getting friends in Helsinki. You do not have to be lonely in Helsinki if you do not want to !

New friends

Post by FinnMex » Mon Jan 15, 2007 10:45 pm

Hello everybody!!

i don´t have much trust on that thing.. meaning that they put some finns and foreigners to meet and see if they match...

We are couple, finn and mexican, we were living in Usa for 3years and now settling down here in Finland, i had such a good friends in usa from venezuela, peru etc. it doesn´t matter of culture is does matter of how people are. U need to have something common of course. We don´t drink at all, so already "sweeps off" punch of people, it seems difficult to find people who doesn´t drink.. there is so many fun things do to than getting drunk. Talking, playing games, having movies night, dinner, coffee or etc. that´s how simple it is!

You can participate in many of the Jolly Dragon activities even if you do not drink alcohole. The same goes for the other clubs and societies which I have mentioned in this discussion with the possible exception of Helsinki Hash House Harriettes and Harriers.

I don't drink, but I also don't let it stop me from meeting people who
do (or don't). Come to the pub quizzes if you want, I'm there
with my glass of water or soda about every other time.

(I'm not a teetotaller, I just prefer other drinks )

meet people in Finland

Post by litcritchick » Wed Jan 24, 2007 9:44 am

Hello everyone. I am new to Tampere and will be here through JUne as a Fulbright Lecturer at the university. I am from New York City, a single parent of a boy who is turning 8. I am looking to meet people who speak some English and want to do activities together, like ski, go to swim or bowling or ice hockey games, or just hang out and experience life in Finland. I find people are friendly so far but don't offer much to get together with you on weekends or evenings.

I am also looking for adults 35 plus to go out with at night to hear music, or dance, or go to a nice restaurant when I have a babysitter.

My name is Cheryl. I can be reached at cjf@pipeline.com

I will be visiting Helsinki several times.

I hope to make new friends in Finland

Eurosinkut ( Euro Singles ) are probably active in Tampere also. The members of the club do all kinds of things together ( excursions, sailing, theatre..... ). You could write to info@eurosinkut.net and ask for info on the club´s activities in Tampere and how to contact them :

Here are pictures ( 74 albums ) from Eurosinkut activities. The first abum ( in the left hand upper corner ) is not accessible without a password ( salasana ), all other albums are.

Hola!!

other people can drink as much as they can, i am not interested to talk or hang around with people who drink, and get drunk cause then they get grazy etc. i have experinces of that. Sitting in pub with glass of soda.. -thanx but no thank- i prefer to do something else. Most of pubs and clubs have non-smoking area but it does not help much that after sitting there your clothes stink very bad! I love dancing but with all that smoke i am not going..

Maybe you are now thinking about some teenage experiences? Normal adults don´t usually "go crazy" after couple of glasses of wine.

Moro

Nice to see Finland having this kind of Finnish friend system.

Yes I am new and I am from finland, I got interested while watching Document from Yle tv channel, (I dun remeber which one -..-)
Seems that here is quite big community so I tough to register.

If theres rules that do not allow Finnish ppl to join the forums, you can be me or what ever. But I seriously doubt it.
