getting a part time job in Finland

Postby lafield » Sun Jun 08, 2003 11:17 pm

My husband may be coming over on a teaching exchange. I am an ESL teacher and can't exchange because of school policy. What are my chances of getting a part time job at a school teaching ESL? How would I go about doing this???

Well, that depends where you're at. Small town = one school = chances slim, but the school in the next village might need a teacher. Big city = lots of opportunities... chances =well? If you are a qualified teacher, there is a lot of companies and vocational schools/polytechnics that also need ESL teachers, and they prefer native teachers. Also there is a lot of vacancies for teachers, and they hire unqualified substitutes so I'd say that a "real teacher" could get a job say in a bigger city easily. Though this would mean shuttling between schools, a few hours here - a few hours there.
