i am moving into the helsinki area and before attempting to enter university, i would like to expand my finnish skills. both my parents have spoken finnish in front of me and some to me most my life, however, i am sure i need basic training from step one. any suggestions on which school would be the best for a canadian? i will soon have my finnish citizenship, so should i wait until i obtain that for relaxed tuition fees? :fin:

You could go to the boondocks to a college for a prep course. Say like to:
http://www.epopisto.fi/
click 'open university' or 'avoin yliopisto'
they have also on the Finnish side like:
Lääketieteen valmennusohjelma
Oikeustieteen valmennusohjelma
Psykologian valmennusohjelma
You can study in open university towards a degree and if you get good enough grades transferring to the 'real' university can happen.
Tuition fees? They're illegal you know... the fees are what they are for most everyone in open university.
