Well, as I'm the one who brought up the issue about using the word "cripple," I'd like to say that I didn't mean it as an attack on anyone. As the OP is an English-speaking American who identified himself as having a spinal cord injury, I just wanted to make sure that people for whom English is not their first language understood how the use of that word might be received by the OP.

Yes, I get your point. I didn't just write that for one person, though. It was a general comment written, in hope, to encourage good habits of civilized discourse

ah, such noble ideas. it is though quite true this board seems at times to be in need of "civilized intercourse"... mostly it is though asking if there is any civilization and the want for intercourse...

what I did is I took all them medications at the same time... makes me see them colors..

They take a couple pounds
They count a couple dollars
As nothing compares
To these blue and yellow purple euro bills
They've been to welfare office
Once or twice but who's countin'
As nothing compares
To these blue and yellow purple euro bills

The boards' want of infatuated inter course is more than the actual need for a discourse.. and then you ask the question what is there between the inter and dis that makes it a wide divide and where is the actual need?
This thread is needs to improve the wants of Yanks to need to search a little bit more than assuming that its gonna be delivered in a silver platter!!

Well i'm proud to have started the most active thread in the forum.
I got way more than i asked for..dunno if it's on a silver platter or not but i did get my answer and a lot more.
Thing about onkoos message ..is ..i can understand how he feels. We're having the same problem here in the states with people coming in and bleeding the system. Lots of people feel just like him. I don't like it either. I guess the whole thing was how he said it ..and with a "guilty untill proven innocent" (and your still guilty cos your in a chair) attitude. ..The spine is easily broke ..he could walk into the street tomorrow and be hit by a car ..well i wouldnt wish it on anyone ..not even him. I guess i asked for it the way i worded my heading and question..it does sound like i'm just wanting to find any ol way to come in and be a bum. ..I just want to be with my woman, i have my own income..don't need any benefits. It doesn't really matter if the onkoo's believe me or not.
I thought of so many nasty things to say to onkoo..but .no ..i won't do it. As far as attacking the message and not the messenger ...well onkoo..you attacked me and my message so...
Even though i shouldnt have let my personal feelings get involved on a forum post..i did get offended because i know lots of brave war vets sitting in chairs..Those remarks were uncalled for.
I think Finland is a great country, as i told my Gal..It's a tight ship.
I promise not to drill holes in her hull.
This is my last post.
I thank you all.

well it is a language issue partly - there is no word for please and instead of saying excuse me it is "sorry" but is that "I am sorry I will bump into you" or "you will be sorry unless you move"...

you need to understand the finnish attitude here you will need to live with if you come over - you are guilty before presumed innocent... americans have a lawyer... finns do not have a lawyer as that would mean you are a criminal as only criminals have/need lawyers...

as a sidenote "good medical in the USA" but is it such that it "carries over"... if it does thats another... "cultural difference"...

and onkko, keep the lid on or the yank will call to his congressman... ( well that was what they threatened me with when the jamaicans were rude and the martiniquan taxis spoke french so it must be something truly horrific )

Or sorry you didn't give me enough information so I wouldn't have to insult you on a public forum  Très amusant

your man has *no* idea unless lived in upper peninsula what its like here... your daughter even might come back screaming... the biggest gaffe exchange students do... they sit in first row and ask questions from the lecturer... you *never* sit in first row (theory: the front church pews were reserved for the royals and nobility - so *who* do *you* think you are...) guest lecturers usually have some "placed" students to give them a question so there isn't the 10 minute silence when the lecturer starts feeling like being stared at and not knowing how to do the smoke thing and vanish... ahh.. "first contact" situations with natives... it *is* amusing watching the "diplomat tango" of a finn backing up to keep his space while a windmill southerner invades the "extended hand with a knife" distance...

Not sure what this means.

Ok, so good information about the front row (added to list of things people know but don't tell you) as my daughter usually sits in the front row (because at her US university the lecturers are more likely to call on you to speak in class if you look like you are trying to hide in the back).

So you should never ask questions unless you are the designated "ringer" -- even if you are sitting in the back?
