French citizen staying on long term in Finland

Post by firoz » Mon Jan 19, 2004 7:00 am

Hi all,

Want to know the formalities that need to be completed for a French citizen to stay in Finland on long term (more than 6 months).
I know Visa is not required and a Residential Permit needs to be obtained.
Need informaiton on:
1. where to get the Residential Permit from and other formalities associated with this.
2. When to apply for Residential Permit? Before entering into Finland or after entering into Finland? If later, is there any time limit before which you should apply for Residential Permit (like within weeks/months of entering into the country)?

Thanks
Firoz

Its easy peasy for you as your an EU citizen, you apply for your residence permit in Finland at the police station within three months of being here.
