I want my Sesame Street!

Post by deojuvame » Wed Jan 21, 2004 1:15 pm

Other Americans know what I'm talking about!

I want a finnish version of Sesame Street! I want some friendly, fake fur-covered Grover running all over the damn television screen, screaming out the finnish words for "near" and "far"!

I want Oscar the grouch to tell me what words start with ö!

Most of all, I want NO MENTION of anything related to genitives and illatives!

I want to learn finnish the same way I learned english, dammit! With giant yellow birds and a catchy tune!

[end of rant]

I want my Sesame Street!

I mean, not to complain (we all know what a hot button issue that is), but if there was a finnish equivalent of Sesame Street out there, I want to know about it.

You know, something a wee bit easier than Supisuomea.... :?

You can always try the 'spot the dog' type books and DVD's in the kids section of the kirjakauppa...

Very educational, (and frankly, quite entertaining as well  )

Actually a few years ago there WAS a Finnish version of Sesame Street. Was really quite funny, and though a bit basic, helped a bit. Don't know why they never renewed it though. I believe it was on YLE1.

I also would love to have sesame street here in Finland!!! I grew up with the German version and I think it is just great for the kids. Sad to hear that all the Mikas, Maijas and Juhas do not know exactly who is Kermit and all the others!

Kids of the 1980's surely know who Kermit was...

It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights...

Whatever happened to Ernie and Bert?

As for Kermit, the only thing I know about him was in a reference to a rude joke (For those of you who are sensitive souls, read no further).

Q. What's green and smells of pork?
A. Kermit's finger

Correction to my original post. Seesamtie was on YLE2 and from 1998-1999. I for one really enjoyed it...
