Sales Agent terminology

Post by Caroline » Sun Jan 25, 2004 10:22 pm

What...if anything....is the difference between "myyntiedustaja" and "kauppaedustaja"? I've seen both words used.

Yes, I did ask DH, but he doesn't know.....

Itsenäinen kauppaedustaja, useita päämiehiä
Myyntiedustajalla on vain yksi tuote.

The sales of a mobile phone one product: myyntiedustaja

The sales of a whole shop or a whole group of phones: kauppaedustaja.

(Anybody better definition?).

Kauppaedustaja has more than one primaries he represents. Myyntiedustaja represents one product of a single primary. So a Kauppaedustaja for example could employ several myyntiedustajia...

Sales representative vs. myyntiedustaja

Sales manager - kauppaedustaja

(check it in a good dictionary or from a collegue, the difference is important, since the one earns more than the other)

Ok, thanks for the replies. I *think* I understand the difference, but just to clarify....

So if I need a sales agent to promote my textile design products, I would advertise for a myyntiedustaja? It doesn't matter to me if the agent has several other businesses that s/he represents. But what if I want the agent to market more than one kind of product for me...would I still look for a myyntiedustaja?

pfff., i don't know. Usually you get the best replies if you advertise honoustly. So, it's small businees, so you add that. The decoration of the title is not so important.
