Hey hey!
a father of a friend of mine went a week to Finland (in work) and when he came back I asked to my friend to tell me some things. Among many things, She told me that her father brought moose meat and paté of bear. LOL. I was like what??

. This is the typical type of meat there?
And another thing ... someone could tell me if there is a high school or university of arts in Finland?

Moose meat you get if you hunt or buy it from tourist shops or big markets or police station when there has been a road kill. (But usually THAT goes to the police).
Bear meat is available in some places, but bear hunting is VERY regulated, so that is very expensive. People hunt moose at least 100x more than bear. There is plenty of moose.
Yes, there are high schools specialized in arts, and also college level and university level art education.

In our house we never eat beef, my husband hunts elk (moose) in winter which gives us enough red meat to last all year. We also have roe deer and white-tailed deer in the freezer. Sometimes I buy lamb (because I like the flavour) and I do buy pork (and wild boar which is plentiful nowadays) and also chicken. We also eat pheasant, duck and hare which we hunt. But I have never eaten bear.

I would like to try bear meat. I have always wanted to but its so expensive. I have seen that bear paté in the grocery store but even that was like 30+€ for a small can and bear paté sounds kinda gross.

Well, there are less moose now than people think. In
Parikkala local hunters counted (in October)
32 moose and 26 bears in their hunting grounds, so they might skip next moose hunting season all together.

That's a lot of bears for a small area.
Do you know where the elk count is published? Would be interesting to see what the numbers are for the rest of the country.

This from March 2008;
"Viime vuosien voimakkaan kannan leikkauksen seurauksena hirvien talvikantaa on onnistuttu pudottamaan vuosituhannen vaihteen 150 000 hirven tasosta nykyiseen reiluun 80 000 yksilöön. Viime syksyn vielä varsin suuren hirvisaaliin (62 200 hirveä) jäljiltä hirvikanta on toivotulla tasolla."
Because of heavy hunting there are now about 80 000 moose. Last year 62 000 were killed so compared to 150 000 moose at the turn of the century the amount is now were it is supposed to be.
The amount of moose accidents has gone down. It is now about 1600 a year compared to over 3000 ten years ago.

OK thanks.
We might skip the moose hunt this autumn (one or both). DH is thinking of going to Estonia instead to hunt for roe deer and wild boar.

I'm not EP but you can find some links from
here. The site is in finnish so here's a little help:
Yliopistot ja korkeakoulut = Universities and schools of higher education
Ammattikorkeakoulut = Polytechnics
Taideaineita opettavat erityislukiot = High schools of arts

There are bears all over the country, also in western Finland and even Nuuksio 20 kilometres from Helsinki. But they are more afraid of you, and if you make some noise they flee. We have a cottage about i hour east of Lahti. I have seen bear poop in the forest, but I have never seen a bear.
