what about North Europe....
According to the statistics cited by Stern Magazine (online version) are 94% of all men have cheated their wives at least once. Simultaneously, 74% of women have cheated their partners at least once. Report shows 60% of the asked women have committed adultery and 40 % of the asked men are unfaithful to their partners.........
What about in Scandinavian countries or countries like Russia or Estonia? Is adultery or cheating is one of the main reasons to break up with marriage or relationship, here in Finland?
Please , do not give any statistic without any reference or source... thanks.

Re: what about North Europe....
i don´t think there are such statistics.
Re: what about North Europe....
Funny that you ask for fact based information when the data you quote seems to be a tad imaginative (94%? Is that among Hustler/playboy readers?
)
Is there an official source?

Is there an official source?
- About one in five adults in monogamous relationships, or 22 percent, have cheated on their current partner. The rate is even higher among married men. And nearly half of people admit to being unfaithful at some point in their lives, according to the results of the MSNBC.com/iVillage Lust, Love & Loyalty survey.

if you understand German then it is for you...

Where? when? whom? The excerpt does not answer any of it. The piece of info given here is incomplete and so is useless.love_not_war wrote:According to the statistics cited by Stern Magazine (online version) are 94% of all men have cheated their wives at least once. As for adultery/cheating being the reason for break-ups, perhaps Finnish are bit more tolerant towards extramarital sexual encounters but that's just my opinion!

Re: what about North Europe....
I find that Simultaneously fascinating: so according to the statistics most of the times when men
are out for an affair, actually at the same time also their wifes are as well...
Back to the question, my impression is that no, adultery is not the first reason for break-ups in Finland.

according to the statistics cited by the Finnish Magazine ( Its for people who understand Finnish ), which quotes the statistics collected by the "olematon tilastot
Työvaliokunta" The leading cause of divorce is the man deciding to build a house by themselves, simultaneously while working, having 2-3 kids and leaving the housewife to take care of all of the rest of the things in a home..
There you go, a well cited source for your statistics quoted by the Finnish Magazine!!

Re: what about North Europe....
A detective agency that makes money investigating infidelity? It must be true than, they certainly wouldn't want to fuel spouses's paranoia with unverified or deturped data...love_not_war wrote:http://www.detectivecondor.de/fremdgehe ... sprung.htm

I am kidding but have you found any other source for this? I couldn't, and very much doubt any reliable source exists.
Many moons ago it used to be a fun quiz on HS IntEdition on the subject with some data (wolf or sheep, something like that) but has since been removed.

I think it is in some jurisdictions you get a shorter notice to find a "fault" as in "reason" for divorce like infidelity (and also to get boocoo bucks)... Finland has a very democratic divorce so you can file anytime, anywhere, without a cause. And its automagical without contest.

Re: what about North Europe....
I don´t think that exists any more. And that is a relief. I don´t remember when the law changed, but it was a relief. Earlier you always had to have "a reason". And that meant that people went and witnessed that they had been infidel or abusing or drunks or something like that just in order to get a divorce. In many cases that was a lie. People staged plays where someone (a friend of the family) comes and witnesses that s/he has had an affair with husnad/wife, and so on.I think it is in some jurisdictions you get a shorter notice to find a "fault" as in "reason" for divorce like infidelity
Maybe if somebody moves out to live with another man/women makes the case quicker, I am not sure. But half a year (or is it a year) and no mess, no accusations, is a way better way.

Re: what about North Europe....
I blame it on technology, like the movie 'he's not that into you' states that there are like 7 different types of techonology to meet, cheat, or get dumped by....
text-messaging
e-mail
cell phone
myspace, facebook, etc.
forums
voice mail
snail mail
maybe I'm missing a few, I'm not too into techonology.
It has become easier to cheat without the spouse or partner knowing. I know my ex was talking to some girl in the Netheralands on myspace, while I was lived with him and things were sour. I wasn't stupid. I caught him later too when I saw her pictures of Finland two weeks after he dumped me. I confronted him, but he didn't admit to it.

Sorry, I cant find the English version.
According to these statistics last year we had less marriages and less divorces (in Estonia). The reason of the divorces? Heaven only knows. In some cases infidelity, but in some cases other problems that lead to infidelity.
