Learning Ice Skating in Helsinki/Espoo

Postby sp.sparsh » Tue Dec 08, 2009 2:55 pm

Hi All,

I wana learn ice skating in Helsinki/Espoo. I do know that there are free ice rinks in both these places, but I am not sure if they offer any lessons for adults. Any information on this is welcome.

EVT in Myyrmäki has lessons for adults in synchronised and single skating (I know you said Espoo and Helsinki, but this is West Vantaa).

Here is a link to their webpages

Sounds like the kind of thing that students organizations or expat clubs could arrange.
Check with ESN and jollydragon.net, even if there aren't any events lined up you can probably find enough interested people and go for it.

Hi all, thanks for the response. Found some info. on it when i went there, so thought of letting you guys know (incase anyone else has a similar question too). They offer free lessons in helsinki every tuesday evenings. You need to pay for the skates and admission to the rink which in total costs 10 euros.

Good to hear, in which ring was it? Some more information would be great.

Bubba Elvis- well..it was fun but being the first time was a trifle nervous too.
Ajdias- this one is near the helsinki railway station. let me know if u have any specific questions and if i go tht side, will find them out and let u know. With 10 euros (skates+admission) u can skate for a full day.

I can imagine...I did it 10 or so years ago, it felt wrong! But it's on my 'things to do this winter' list.

10 euros? Pretty cheap!!!

10 euros if you don't take your own skates, rental alone is 5.

Looking online I found the ring's program; see also Helsinki's artificial skating rings.

Thanks sp.sparsh.
