This has probably been asked before, where's the best place to look for 2nd hand cars in Finland?

Cheers

Do you think that I could sell my 2005 Ford Mondeo 2.2 tdci ST 155BHP (98000km) + Sat Nav, UK Spec (Right Hand Drive) in Finland? or would I find it difficult to sell?

What would the left hand drive version sell for? and what would I expect to get for it as its Right Hand Drive.

Cars are taking a long time to sell here nowadays on average. Not to knock what you have or anything but its an older model Mondeo and right hand drive. Plus have the taxes been paid on it? Is it even registered in Finland? That will also take away interest in it.

If its in UK plates some wrecker might pay a tenner for it - sell it to someone moving back, or someone delivering mail in the boonies.

Right hand drive cars have slim to no chance of selling for any reasonable price (would you buy a left hand drive to use in the UK?)), unless we're talking about certain sport car models made only as right hand drive (e.g. Nissan Skyline, Japanese/UK special edition Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Evo,..). The taxation aspect was already mentioned (thus the prices are comparable only with the Finnish taxes, registration etc. added). You can try to sell it, of course, with the condition that the car will be delivered to Finland without tax upon closing of the deal (easiest and risk-free for you), but all things considered, I'm thinking it's better just to sell it in the UK. If you're moving to Finland and want/need a car (in capital area often one can very well do without, depending on your transportation needs, obvously), you might want to come via Germany of Sweden and buy a car for you there, with taxes, registration etc. costs included, it's easily possible to save a few thousand euros compared to buying a car in Finland, depending on the model and price, of course. There's some bureaucracy involved, but money-wise it would make sense.

so i am better off keeping the ford and selling the 3L V6 AWD Jag then????

I am not going to sell the car now, just was wondering on what peoples thoughts were as the ford is on UK plates but its coming up to the 6 month so I need to do something about it, even if it means taking it back to the UK or to get it put on Finn plates and keep it for a year or so.

you might check http://www.henry.fi/mondeo/ . Unfortunately there´s no 2005 models for sale at the mo. With such a big engine, I ´m guessing €15-18k for the equivalent model with LHD.

Dificulty of selling it would depend on what kind of price you were willing to let it go for.

IMHO, you would be lucky to find anyone here who would buy it on UK plates unless you are willing to sell it for seriously below market value of the equivalent LHD. It will need tax, CoC, engine heater, cabin heater ... second set of rims & tyres? That´s a lot of unknowns to take on.

If you´d register it here, therby sorting the tax liability, and winterfy it, it would be far more saleable, especially if you bring it in tax-free and were willing to undercut local prices when selling it a couple of years later.

If it would be a petrol, I´d be interested... I´m still driving the RHD Escort I brought with me in 2000... but I ´ll have to get rid of it by 2013 as the AL doesn´t cover cars over 15 years old. Same goes for the missus´ LHD Mondeo :(
