So do you still think those workers, no matter how many there are, should waste time doing YOUR job of providing ALL the information? Even if it means that queue will explode because they have to do YOUR job and then do THEIR job and evaluate validity of those grounds.

Maahanmuuttovirasto every week tell me that they have everything they need, that application is OK but ur in a queue for half of my lifetime

A Kela card with a photo?? I think you're confusing that with a residence permit?

Good gawd. :|

Patience, patience, patience. You're living somewhere other than your birth culture. It takes time. As a long time payer into the Finnish system, I don't want my taxes to be increased just to hire more staff to process applications just so newcomers get their papers processed faster.

Be happy that you live here. It's actually quite quick. If I were to move back to Canada with my Finnish husband, he would have to wait up to 2 yearsfor his paperwork to come back and he's married to a Canadian.

I've just wasted some minutes reading through the OP's drivel. But knowhere have I found any evidience about racism.

Just sounds like some cock who shouts "racist" repeatedly, to the point that when there is actually a real "racist" situation, nobody wants to hear, because they think it's just another buffoon crying wolf.

And why do we pay taxes? Our kids are well looked after from the time they're 10 months old to 6-7 years old if both parents work. Minimal direct costs to the parents for this compared to other countries. Education is (relatively) free and of a good quality from 7 years old until the person decides to finish their education. When a person looses their job they are not forced to live in the streets. When we're sick, everyone has access to health care. The infrastructure of the country is pretty decent..good roads, water systems work, electricity is piped into even the most remote areas, mobile service nearly everywhere, public buildings are well built and maintained, functional emergency services, etc. When we're older and we retire, we can rely on a pension and extra support if needed for housing, medicines, etc.

I don't believe that we can ever ever take our services for granted and we can't deny that we live in a society which does look after its citizens well.. yes, yes..there are some which fall through the cracks but in general the vast majority are well cared for from birth to death. Taxes make all of this possible. I'd much rather make certain my kids are well educated and healthy and that my pension is secure before throwing more money into pumping up the number of employees in the immigrant services to make processing times more convenient for the immigrant.

Glad to hear that you're able to move around freely and you've made a personal choice to live here. If it's so unpleasant then best pack your bags and move on, eh, to somewhere that won't keep the blood pressure so high? So you'll be another student who'll use our educational services for 3-6 years and then move on? And yes I know you work 2 jobs but I can hazard a guess that they are both lower paying jobs and the amount you pay in taxes is considerable lower than those of us with full-time professional positions? (excuse me if I'm wrong here) Those of us who pay over 10 K in annual taxes (over 20K per couple) do complain, too, but at the end of the day I understand the need when my kids have a warm school with good teachers and hot lunches, class trips, wonderful health care and they ride their bikes to school on roads which are well maintained and I know that if I get sick and can't work that these kids won't be forced to go hungry or cold.

Can you tell us where you're from and whether you and your family would be as well looked after in your birth culture? I am not pointing a finger at you..just curious.

If you're going to live here then learn to quietly complain like the rest of us about the taxes however at the end of the day, our taxes could be greatly reduced but then so again would the quality of the services, roads, schools, etc.

Welcome to the western world! In all well-developed western countries there's always the blah blah blah about the rich and the seemingly unfair taxation system as it applies to them. You could always call for Robin Hood.

Natakene, it costs the government around 10,000€ a year to put a child through school. If you've got one child in a Finnish school, then that's where 833€/month of your tax goes. If you've got two kids in school, then 666€/month of the cost of educating your kids is paid for by someone else.

if someone receive 2 million and pay 1 million I don't think he will feel it as the one who receive 2000 and pay 1000 to the tax office!

That is not the way it goes. Tax % is progressive. If you understand what that means.

If you've paid too much withholding taxes in one year, you'll get it back at the end of the next year. The higher percentage is to ensure that you're paying enough and you won't get hit with a huge tax bill. You'll notice that there's not a cap on the higher withholding limit so for all they know you could be exceeding your anticipated earnings by 2000 %.

Where are you from? Sounds like you've got alot of getting used to the tax systems in developed countries. Welcome!

Let's assume you live in Helsinki, do not belong to major churches and have no extra tax deductions to make. The annual income from which you would need to pay 40% tax (and that is including the pension other mandatory additonal payments) is bit above 85 000€.

You do not pay 40%
