Studying in America

Postby Golfplaya93 » Sun May 01, 2011 5:03 pm

Hello,

I recently did a foreign exchange program in America and fell in love with a boy here. I now want to complete my high school here in America and I was wondering if this is possible or will I not graduate until I'm like 25. There's a lot of differences in the school system and I was wondering of anything was transferrable so I wouldn't have to retake classes. Any other tips on finishing high school in America would be useful too.

Thank you

Transferring to a school in other countries is always hard. If you had an exchange school program, I think you can ask your sponsor some advice on how to manage your previous school records in order to be accepted in the school you want to transfer in. Since there’s a difference in curriculum, some of your subjects might not be accepted.

I assume you did an (high school) exchange student program. If you are thinking about going back to the high school you were in then just contact your high school and ask them. Or contact whatever high school you are interested in.

I was as an exchange student... oh, a million years ago, and the high school accepted all my previous classes and gave credits, I needed only a few obligatory classes for me to get the right to graduate (Health, English, Civics, US History... might have been some other class, too, I have forgotten). If you want also a Finnish high school diploma I would guess they don't accept the US high school classes, you probably need to take the classes separately and of course the matriculation examination. But talk with your own High School.
