All the teachers at Helsinki Astanga Joogakoulu speak English and that is where I started - send them an email and call them to see when there will be another beginners course. (http://www.astanga.fi/english/index.html)

There is also an American guy, Cole, teaching Astanga at Shanti Yoga Studio and I have take a few classes with him. (http://koti.welho.com/cdano/)

Hope this helps.

Yoga in Helsinki Finland

Post by C Dano » Mon Oct 22, 2007 10:44 pm

Hi i'm Cole, the guy mentioned above. I just opened my own studio - Studio 8 Ashtanga Yoga Center - along with another well respected local teacher, Tove Palmgren. We teach Ashtanga Yoga in a very humane way. My classes are in English and Tove's are in whatever language they need be, English, Swedish and of course Finnish.

For info check http://www.studio8.fi

Thanks-
cole

You'd be surprised how people get 'taught' out there.

I learned from Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty back home in California.

I joined Yoga Classes at Embassy of India, Kulosaari for a few times in November, 2011. It was really good. The Teacher is from India and speaks only English. I think they are now doing at a different location. They charge some 30/50 € per month. Anybody interested can enquire through [email protected] or call at the reception of the Embassy of India (09-228 99119, 09-228 99110).

Hello everybody!
We all teach also in English if necessary at the Iyengar Yoga Center Helsinki, Studio Yama, Alexander theater top floor, Bulevardi 27. See website www.studioyama.fi - I often teach on Tuesday evenings bilingually (Fin-Eng) when necessary and Timo teaching on Thursdays is a native Am-Eng speaker.

At the same location there is also running an independent English speaking class on Wednesday mornings 9-10.15 and on Fridays 9.30-10.45 - drop-in 15 euros, 5 times card 65 euros and 10 times card 120 euros. However, the Wednesday is a trial and it might end so please check before hand if it is still running. Friday classes do continue. You can also check my own website for info (sorry it is otherwise in Finnish apart from the English classes update): http://joogaa.wordpress.com/tunnitkurssit/
Wellcome!
